Why is it that SOME modern African Americans shun there backgrounds and ancestry? - fun in modern africa
I remember when I was younger and in school (there is only one years lol) but I was in a class of African-American history, I think we can see a video about the different tribes of Africa. And there were some who scoffed at the customs of my people, and I do not respect, because I take seriously my history and education.
If there is no need for answers is ignorant or angry.
Thank you.

Not that many people are interested in their ancestors, regardless of their ethnic or national origin. The few that are frequented by the hope that the descendants of a person is known, rich or powerful motivation. It is a game state for a large number instead of improving the understanding of the mistakes that our ancestors have done and learn not to repeat what we do, they can do.
Those who are African American, and likely be spared even the extra effort to explore a very painful episode in his family, the family history book very difficult and unsafe.
So, assuming that the field of African origin, a proposal for you is best. Organizations such as Ancestry.com DNA tests can help determine the regional origin, which may be crucialNED for the detection of surnames.
